Rolex was founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf and it is today one of, if not the most, recognisable watch brand in the world. You don’t have to be a watch connoisseur to correlate Rolex with luxury, accurate and durable timepieces with a remarkable craftsmanship. Rolex’s history is full of notorious events and releases, one of them being the creation of the Oyster Perpetual initially released in 1926. It presented a new screw-down crown and caseback mechanism that prevented the watch to be easily damaged by water, moisture and dust, keeping it waterproofed. Nowadays the Oyster Perpetual line is the entry point to the Rolex brand, but even in the most affordable models you can appreciate every luxurious detail and the watchmaking know-how of this iconic brand.
The timepiece showcased is a colourful Rolex Oyster Perpetual (reference number 126000) from 2020, 36mm in diameter with a shockingly vibrant yellow dial, also known as “the Stella for the people”. Its case is made of 904L Oystersteel (with higher corrosion resistance and higher surface hardness) and it is powered by the in-house caliber 3230, with a 70 hour power reserve. This is of course a Superlative Chronometer movement that has not only passed the COSC (Control Officiel Suisse de Chronometres) certification (-4/+6 seconds maximum deviation per day) but it was subsequently tested to Rolex’s own criteria (-2/+2 seconds maximum deviation per day), a much stricter certification. This watch was never worn and comes in factory condition, with its full set, minus the stickers, and is still under the original 5 year Rolex warranty, as shown in the pictures.
This timepiece is an excellent choice for an all-rounder watch, with an up-beat look and increasingly difficult to find in new conditions as this one. This is a perfect introduction watch for either begin or upgrade your watch collection, but there is nothing basic to it. This timepiece will be a great companion for the following holidays, feeling at home in celebrations and parties, but it is also capable of keeping in tone for semiformal occasions, such as dinners or meetings that don’t require a formal dressing, which are more common nowadays. This is a great way to show your personality, your watch knowledge and to contrast with the darker tones the world has been passing through the last years.
